How long past the expiration date can you safely use glaucoma eye drops?
The official answer is that you cannot use them safely after the expiration date. See below for my personal experience.
Furthermore, the unofficial answer would differ between preserved and preservative-free drops as well as with the actual chemical medication itself, how it had been stored, and more.
As an unofficial answer for people who may not have a choice but to continue using expired eye drops (due to financial or supply reasons, or other unexpected / emergency issues) I can share my personal experience.
I have used drops that were multiple years past expiration and I did not have any problems and the drops continued to give me full efficacy. My drops were stored carefully the entire time. I have done the same with both preserved and preservative-free drops.
In your own case, most of you should probably be more careful than I am. I'm young and relatively healthy and I have not had trabs.
