Higher IOP on waking
I have been using an ICARE Home for the past six months. One trend that is consistent is that my IOP is significantly higher in the morning and always low in the evening. I am still to determine how high is too eye to prevent further damage but am keen to know what things people do to reduce early morning pressure?
I do a morning meditation, usually in conjunction with putting in my drops. An hour after waking it almost always drops 2-4 points. Also better at managing morning work stress (in part a result of mindfulness practice). Also going to decaf coffee seems to have helped.
Finally ... I notice that getting a good night's sleep is correlated with lower morning IOP (I know, easier said than done).
I have noticed the same thing! I believe my eye pressure is always highest in the early morning, which I understand is common for some people. I sleep with my head elevated but it really makes no difference. I often have white lights in the periphery of my eyes-closed vision in the early morning if I wake up having to pee. Someone in the group noticed that her eye pressure was always higher when she had to pee and then lowered afterwards, so I always try to get right up LOL! I measured my eye pressure with an Icare home at this time once, and it really sort of hurts my eyes to do it! The green light seems sooo bright. My pressure was 30/25 at the time - yikes! I agree the morning meditation is good. I also do eye exercises upon awakening (rising) and this also lowers my eye pressure by several points.
