This is my list of supplements (and things) that promote a healthy brain:
I could have picked a number of different supplements, but the ones on my list serve multiple purposes. For example, many experts feel polyphenols reduce the risk of developing age-related neurodegenerative diseases. I gave examples of polyphenol-rich supplements above: maqui berry, grape seed extract and mirtogenol. I picked maqui berry because it is also very effective for dry eye. I picked grape seed extract because it (along with bilberry extract) can help lower intraocular pressure. Mirtogenol also has shown efficacy in lowering IOP in several studies. Likewise, there are multiple reasons for each of the items on this list, but all of them are supplements I consider useful for maintaining a healthy brain.
I suspect the item you are trying to remember is on the list above -- probably one of the first 3 items, if I had to guess.
In case any of you are wondering why TMG is on the list, it is a methylator and it helps the body produce SAMe. SAMe, in turn, supports neurotransmitter synthesis and it supports the brain’s antioxidant defenses. TMG is one of the more important supplements I take personally because I have found it extremely effective at helping me maintain healthy blood homocysteine levels. There is also evidence it offers the same benefit for homocysteine levels in the brain. Elevated homocysteine is associated with poor mental health. TMG supplements can support healthy mood.

Lecithin also is essential to healthy brains and is needed by the neurotransmitters.
Dave, I noticed gingko biloba and nicotinamide aren't on this list. Do you take those as well?
