What are the thoughts about the vaccine for us with glaucoma? For you FitEyes members who have already gotten the shots, did the vaccine increase your eye pressure? Did it cause any other eye-related symptoms?
In my case there was zero effect on my IOP from the J&J vaccine. I know other people with tonometers who got the different vaccines (J&J, Pfizer, Moderna) and none of them saw any effect on their IOP either.

I got both doses of Moderna in March and my intraocular pressure was same as usual in both eyes.
With the first shot I felt a bit tired a day later and cured that with a nap. I felt my usual perky self with the second shot.
What is different is that, having had the vaccination, I feel much calmer and far less fearful. Knowing that stress affects my IOP, feeling more peaceful is a very good thing.

I had both Moderna vaccine jabs in February. I have a tonometer and I have noticed no change in IOP measurements. The sense of relief after being vaccinated was wonderful.

I got the Johnson & Johnson shot in early April. So far no blood clots ! I was a little tired day one. The injection site was sore for a week or so (noticeable only if I intentionally rubbed on it).
My IOP vai Goldmann has been normal. The Johnson & Johnson vaccine is the more "traditional" vaccine, without mRNA. And it uses a real [deactived] virus for delivery, but not a covid 19 virus.

There is a lot of confusing information out there re. the Covid vaccines, and data is still emerging. However, the latest studies show that it’s rare for a fully vaccinated person to get Covid at all, and also much less likely to spread it.

The medical community at large broadly agrees that the benefits of getting the vaccine far outweigh the risks, including reaching herd immunity which protects the most vulnerable among us who do not have natural immunity.
Also:
The risk of severe illness and death from COVID-19 far outweighs any benefits of natural immunity. COVID-19 vaccination will help protect you by creating an antibody (immune system) response without having to experience sickness.

There is a concern that natural immunity can be affected by the Covid vaccine as it did when scientists tried to come up with vaccines for Sars and Mers. Boosting immunity through lifestyle, diet continues to be of major importance. Toxins, especially glyphosate, classified as an antibiotic, may play a major role in immunity. If you can, eat organic food, get fresh air away from pollution (hard to do I know) exercise, and so on. All the best practices for eyesight are relevant for immunity including mindset.
It’s my understanding that being vaccinated doesn’t guarantee at all you will not get the virus. You still will get the virus and transmit it same as the people who haven’t been vaccinated but you should be more protected from side effects and recover faster 🤔🤔 I might be wrong but that’s my understanding from the medical resources so far. I’m not against the vaccines. I’ll wait a bit longer as I am not convinced that this vaccine will protect me better than a strong immune system in this case. I had the virus with very light symptoms.

The reading I’ve done says that they are finding that those who are vaccinated, even if infected which is unlikely, will not carry enough of a viral load to transmit the virus. This information is coming in as they track more and more vaccinated people.
Reducing transmission of the virus will help to prevent variants that could make the virus more lethal, more transmissible or resistant to the vaccines. It’s a collective effort we can make to stop the virus effectively.
