I have been using Cosopt PF for several months and was following the directions to apply one drop in the morning and one in the evening so I was doing that at 9 am and 9 pm. Recently I’ve been reading that beta blockers shouldn’t be used before bedtime because a person’s blood pressure may become too low and could cause optic nerve damage. So I’m wondering if changing my dosing schedule to 8:00 am and 4:00 pm would be okay even though it’s only a ten hour interval.

Thank you for any advice.

Please check with your doctor to confirm. However, most FitEyes membes are indeed making changes to their dosing schedules like what you suggest. For example, 8:00 am and 5:00 pm works well for a lot of people.

At least one study refutes this, but overall the consensus seems to be that, yes, there is the risk of reduced nocturnal blood pressure. On the whole, changing your dosing schedule to use the evening drop of a beta blocker earlier seems to have little downside and more upside.

I'm sure you have also been reading about the benefits of home tonometry. If you can't measure your IOP (especially upon awakening in the morning) it is very hard to optimize either the medications you use or the timing of them.
